About the TD1
Form TD1 (Personal Tax Credits Return) tells your employer how much tax to deduct from each pay cheque. You fill it out when you start a new job, when your personal situation changes (marriage, new dependant, disability, multiple jobs), or whenever you want to adjust your federal and provincial withholding. PDF Edit lets you fill the official 2025 CRA TD1 directly in your browser — no upload, no account, no watermark — and download a clean PDF you can email or hand to your employer.
How to Fill the TD1 Online — in 4 Steps
1. Click "Fill TD1 Form Free"
The button above opens the official TD1 inside the PDF Edit editor — running entirely in your browser. No download, no signup, no upload.
2. Type directly into the form fields

3. Sign, stamp, or annotate as needed

Why Use PDF Edit for the TD1?
Fillable — really fillable
Every form in our library loads as a native AcroForm PDF with live fields you can click and type into. Not a flat scan, not a separate data entry form that rebuilds a new PDF on download.
100% in your browser
The TD1 is opened and edited entirely on your device. SSNs, wages, addresses — nothing leaves your machine. There is no server-side copy because there is no server.
No watermark, no paywall
The saved PDF is the same official form, no "edited with pdfedit.com" banner, no "upgrade to download". Free forever, ad-supported.
Printable, too
Save the PDF for digital filing, or Ctrl+P to print a clean, mail-ready copy. Margins and alignment match the original.
Always the current year
We track the official Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) release and update the source PDF when a new revision is published. This landing page was last verified on 2026-05-07.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the TD1 form?
The TD1 (Personal Tax Credits Return) is a CRA form you give to your employer or pension administrator so they can calculate the correct federal income tax to withhold from your pay. You add up the personal amounts that apply to you (basic personal amount, age amount, spousal amount, disability, tuition, etc.) and the resulting total claim drives the tax tables your payer uses.
When do I fill out a TD1?
Fill a TD1 when you start a new job, when you start receiving a pension, when your tax situation changes (new spouse, new dependant, becoming disabled, retiring, multiple jobs), or whenever you want to update what your employer is withholding. You can submit a new TD1 to your employer at any time — they must accept it within seven days.
Do I file the TD1 with the CRA?
No — you give the completed TD1 to your employer or payer, who keeps it in your payroll file. The CRA does not receive the TD1 directly. The employer uses your total claim amount to look up the correct tax deduction in the CRA payroll tables and reports actual withholding on your T4 at year end.
Is there a separate TD1 for each province?
Yes. There is a federal TD1 (this form) and a provincial or territorial TD1 (TD1ON for Ontario, TD1BC for BC, TD1AB for Alberta, etc.). Most employees fill out both — the federal TD1 covers federal tax, the provincial TD1 covers provincial tax. Quebec employees use the TP-1015.3-V instead of the federal TD1 for provincial purposes.
What if I have more than one employer?
Fill out a TD1 for your primary employer with all your usual claim amounts. For any additional employer, complete only Box 1 (basic personal amount = 0) and check the box "More than one employer" so the second employer withholds at the higher rate without double-counting your personal amounts.
Can I fill out the TD1 online for free?
Yes. PDF Edit loads the official 2025 CRA TD1 in your browser and lets you type directly into every field. No account, no email, no watermark, and the form never leaves your device. Click "Fill TD1 Form Free" to start.
Is my TD1 data safe with PDF Edit?
Yes — entirely. PDF Edit processes the TD1 inside your browser. Your SIN, dependants' details, address, and tax credit amounts never cross the internet. There is no server-side copy and no account required. Hand the saved PDF to your employer however you normally share documents.
Is this the official CRA TD1?
Yes. PDF Edit loads the original federal TD1 published by the CRA at canada.ca. We do not recreate the form. The provincial TD1 versions (TD1ON, TD1BC, etc.) are also published by the CRA and follow the same fill-pattern.
Can I save and print my completed TD1?
Yes. After filling the fields, click Save to download the completed PDF without a watermark. Use Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on Mac) to print directly from the editor. The output is acceptable for employer payroll files.
