About the T1 General

The T1 General (Form 5000-R) is the main income tax return that every Canadian resident files with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). It reports your worldwide income, deductions, and credits, and calculates your federal and provincial tax owing or refund. Most filers now use NETFILE-certified software for online filing, but PDF Edit lets you pre-fill the official paper form for your records, for residents required to paper-file, or to plan your return before you submit electronically — all in your browser, with no upload.

How to Fill the T1 General Online — in 4 Steps

1. Click "Fill T1 General Form Free"

The button above opens the official T1 General inside the PDF Edit editor — running entirely in your browser. No download, no signup, no upload.

2. Type directly into the form fields

Click any field to place your cursor and type. Tab moves to the next field. Every native AcroForm field is recognised — no guesswork about where to click.

3. Sign, stamp, or annotate as needed

Use the toolbar to add a signature image, a date stamp, or a free-text note. Everything stays inside your browser — no third party ever sees your entries.

4. Save or print your completed T1 General

Click Save to download the filled PDF, or press Ctrl+P (⌘+P on Mac) to print. The output has no watermark and matches the layout of the official T1 General exactly.

Why Use PDF Edit for the T1 General?

Fillable — really fillable

Every form in our library loads as a native AcroForm PDF with live fields you can click and type into. Not a flat scan, not a separate data entry form that rebuilds a new PDF on download.

100% in your browser

The T1 General is opened and edited entirely on your device. SSNs, wages, addresses — nothing leaves your machine. There is no server-side copy because there is no server.

No watermark, no paywall

The saved PDF is the same official form, no "edited with pdfedit.com" banner, no "upgrade to download". Free forever, ad-supported.

Printable, too

Save the PDF for digital filing, or Ctrl+P to print a clean, mail-ready copy. Margins and alignment match the original.

Always the current year

We track the official Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) release and update the source PDF when a new revision is published. This landing page was last verified on 2026-05-07.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the T1 General?

The T1 General (Form 5000-R) is the federal income tax return that every Canadian resident files with the CRA each year. It reports income from all sources (employment, self-employment, investments, pensions, RRSP withdrawals), claims deductions and tax credits, and calculates the tax owed or refund due. Provincial schedules (e.g., Form 428) are filed alongside it.

When is the T1 due?

The T1 is due by April 30 each year for most individuals. Self-employed taxpayers (and their spouses or common-law partners) have until June 15, but any balance owing is still due April 30 to avoid interest charges. Late filers face a 5% penalty on the balance plus 1% per month for up to 12 months.

Do I have to paper-file the T1?

No — the CRA strongly encourages NETFILE (online filing through certified tax software). Paper filing remains available for taxpayers without internet access, those filing for the first time without a CRA-issued access code, or in special situations. PDF Edit is useful for pre-filling, archival copies, or for tax preparers reviewing returns before transmission.

Where do I get the T1 General form?

The CRA publishes the T1 (Form 5000-R) at canada.ca/en/revenue-agency. PDF Edit loads the official 2025 fillable PDF directly from the CRA — no third-party copy. We update the source whenever the CRA publishes a new revision.

Is my T1 data safe with PDF Edit?

Yes — entirely. PDF Edit processes the T1 inside your browser. Your SIN, income figures, deductions, and bank-account info for direct-deposit refund never leave your device. There is no upload, no server-side copy, and no account required.

Can I file the T1 directly through PDF Edit?

No — actual filing requires NETFILE-certified software or paper submission to the CRA. PDF Edit is for filling, reviewing, and saving a clean PDF of the T1. Use it to pre-fill before transferring numbers to your NETFILE software, to archive the completed return, or to print and mail when paper-filing applies.

Can I save and print the completed T1?

Yes. Click Save to download the filled PDF without a watermark, or press Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on Mac) to print directly. The output preserves CRA formatting and is acceptable for paper submission when paper-filing is permitted.

Is this the official CRA T1 form?

Yes. PDF Edit loads the original Form 5000-R published on canada.ca. We do not recreate the form or alter the layout — you fill the exact document the CRA accepts.

Official source & freshness. We load the T1 General directly from Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) (canonical PDF). Current revision: January 2026. Our automated checker verified this source on 2026-05-07. If the government publishes a new revision, the Fill button on this page loads the updated file automatically.
