Two Rotation Modes, One Tool
Per-page — click a thumbnail
The most common real-world case: one or two pages were scanned sideways in a longer document. Click those specific thumbnails to rotate them without touching the rest. Each click rotates that page 90° clockwise; four clicks returns to 0°. You can mix rotations freely — page 3 at 90°, page 17 at 270°, everything else at 0°.
Batch — rotate all pages at once
When every page is in the wrong orientation (someone scanned a whole landscape document into a portrait PDF), use the Rotate all 90° / 180° / 270° buttons. This applies the same delta to every page in one click, leaving per-page rotations you've already set in place. Use Reset all to clear every rotation back to 0°.
Counter-clockwise rotation
The PDF spec stores rotation clockwise, so "counter-clockwise 90°" is the same as "clockwise 270°". Three clicks on a thumbnail or the Rotate all 270° button gives you that counter-clockwise quarter-turn. The final result on disk is identical either way.
Additive deltas
If a source page was already authored at 90° (some landscape PDFs are stored this way), our rotation adds to that existing angle rather than replacing it. So "rotate +90°" on a page that was already at 90° produces 180° final — matching what you'd see in a viewer and what your intuition expects.

Every page in a PDF file has a /Rotate entry in its page dictionary — a single number that tells viewers to display the content rotated by 0°, 90°, 180°, or 270° clockwise. When you click a thumbnail here, we update our in-memory model of that page's rotation. When you click Rotate PDF, we open the source PDF, write the new /Rotate value into each modified page's dictionary, and save the result. The actual drawing commands inside each page are untouched — no rasterizing, no re-encoding, no quality loss. What's the difference between rotating the view vs rotating the file?
Rotating the view (pressing Ctrl+Shift+ + in Adobe Acrobat, for example) only changes the display — reopen the file and it's back to the old orientation. Rotating the file (what this tool does) writes the rotation into the PDF itself, so every future open everywhere is at the new orientation.
Can I combine rotated PDFs later?
